IT'S School Holidays

The school year for 2017 has gone by like a flash, right now I feel like it's only Term !!. Unfortunatley I couldn't come on the last day of school to say farewell to my teacher Mrs Tele'a and the Year 8's, but one things for sure is that I am going to miss them alot and hopefully they come and visit us sometime.

Some kids are not very excited about going back to school in the following year but I am because at our school Prizegiving I was named one of the Prefects of our school and in my family being a leader of the school is a big thing. So I am very excited to go back to school for 2018. What about you, are excited to go back to school?

Extension Experience this year

This year was my very first year of been in Extension and I have had a blast with Mrs Langitupu and the Year 8's and 7's. This experience of being in Extension has helped me improve more on my coding and helped me understand more about Scratch. My advise for the Year 6's who are going to be in Extension next year is to always try your best and always pay attention of what is happening. I would like to say thank you to Mrs Langitupu and Zoey from OMGT for helping me throughout the year.

One thing that I enjoyed about being in Extension was doing new tasks for a new term. I also really enjoyed working together with my friends and finding solutions for our problems throughout the year. My highlights for extension was when we were filming for our school Maniakalani Film Festival which was a lot of fun. I hope that I'm in Extension next year, Thank you Mrs Langitupu for a great experience this year.

Reflection

Last Term for extension we had a task to make a game show or make a musical instrument on Scratch with Makey-Makey and my group decided to make a game show. We had to all partner up into groups of 3 to 4 people and my group was: Alisha, Danielle and Ana, and today we hd to do a reflection of our experience.

The first thing we had to do was make up questions and search for the answer online. The next step we had to do was hook up the Makey-Makey kit on the computer, start coding the sounds and the backgrounds and we had to get Play-doh for our buzzers. In our group we all had different jobs to do, my job was to help Alisha hook up the wires and coding. The last step we had to do was test out everything with Zoey from OMG Tech and everything went smoothly.

When we presented our game we had two volunteers who were Talita and Simon. They each knew a few questions but at the end it all ended in a tie. Our group were very proud of our game and we were also proud of working together to finish of this Game for Term 3, and this task has helped me improve my knowledge for Makey-Makey.

So in New Zealand right now the leader of New Zealand first is talking to each leader of Labour and National to see what their Policies are and what their plans are for New Zealdn. So what do YOU think should Winston Peters(Leader of New Zealand First) work with Labour or National?

My Trip to Samoa!!

On August the 5th me and my mum: Lautifa, went to Samoa for a family funeral.
I was really excited to see my family again but at the same time
I was really sad that my Great Grandpa passed away.

When I stepped at outside the Virgin Australia aircraft I instlanty knew that the
air in Samoa was going to be really hot. I looked at the building in front of me that
was called Faleolo International Airport which was one of the most busiest building
in all of Samoa. Once all of the passengers arrived in the building to check in we
were greeted by the sound of traditional Samoan music played by 4 men.
As passengers walked passed them they threw $20 or $10 in front of them like donation,
once we passed Security, bag pick up and passport check we arrived
outside to where we were greeted by the happy faces of my family.

After a round of hugs and kisses we scrambled in our family van which sped through
the night as I admired the fale's (houses) pass by, and at that same time
I was really happy to be back in my home country. On Sunday morning we all got ready to
go to Savaii we the other half of my family lived, when we arrived at the Wharf we got our tickets
and waited for Lady Samoa II Ship to arrive. The boat arrived in 10 miuntes and everybody
boarded the ship which glided smoothly across the ocean, after 15 miuntes of looking outside
the window I fell into a deep sleep. When we arrived in Savaii and got off the boat we sped off
to our house in Vaisaulu, once we arrived we saw that no one was at home because they
Image result for Samoan airportwere all off at Church, so we waited and waited.

When my family arrived they all got changed and had dinner togther and talked about how if everthing was okay. When we had to leave Samoa was really sad that I had to leave my family back again and come back, but before we went through the gates and grandma told me,"Even if don't live in Samoa, always remember that Samoa is your home and you are a true Samoan girl" I hugged her tight and said Goodbye, but now I will always know where I came from I will always be a true island girl!!

Note: Here is a Samoan song that I love and will always remind me that Samoa is my Home. SONG and the English and Samoan version, SONG 2

My holiday with my auntie

My holiday so far has being fun because I get to spend time with my aunty: Misilani sice she came from Samoa before the holiday's started. Our time schelued for ever morning is:

So my holiday is not the fun like some kids get to go to rainbow's end or going to the beach with family and friends, but I'm happy that I get to spend time together with my aunty these school holidays. And the other good news is that my birthday is coming up in thirteen days. (August the 2nd) Can't wait!!

Game Reflection

In extension this term our focus is on coding, so a few weeks ago me and my partner: Alisha have started our game for scratch where we had to make a space game. The worst problem that we had was broadcasting and making sure we had the right coding.
On the first level me and my partner: Alisha, we each did a job to finish the level, so I did the backgrounds and half of the coding while Alisha did the other half  and did the drawings of the sprites.
Problem: The problem that we had throughout the game was broadcasting because me and my partner still had problem increasing our knowledge for broadcasting.
Solution: Zoe from OMG Tech taught us there was an easier way to broadcast on scratch and she also helped us to learn more about broadcasting.

My favourite part about coding this Term for Extension was that I really got to bond with my partner and that I increased my knowledge for coding more than last term.

3.And one thing that I have learned is that Satellites have shown that the ozone on the earth are disappearing over some parts of the Earth and are trying to find a way to use less damaging chemicals to our atmosphere.
4. The last thing that I have learned from this story is that Two other satellites: TOPEX/Poseidon and Jason 1 have been studying the oceans, and they help us understand the complex movement of ocean water.

Activity Two
Answer the questions in a different colour

The definition of the median is the middle number within a set of numbers that have been put in order from size (biggest to smallest or smallest to biggest)
For example: 2,6,4,1,9 = 1,2,4,6,9 and the middle number is 4.
BUT say if there is more than one middle number… the median is found by taking the number midway between the middle pair of numbers:
3,6,1,4,9,2 = 1,2,3,4,6,9 → 3 + 4 = 3.5
                                             2

Find the median in these sets of numbers

  1. 10,14,17,12,19,11,16, 14 is the middle number
  2. 34,42,37,31,40: 37 is the middle number

  1. 101, 167,138,124,198,149,  143 is the middle number

  1. 54, 58,52,57,53,60, the middle number is 55.5

  1. 1001, 1094, 1023, 1065, 1038, 1027, 1042: the middle number is 1038

Activity Three
The mode is the most frequent number in a set of data. The number that occurs most often.
For example: In a set of numbers 3, 7, 8, 4, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3, 9 there is two modes, 3 and 4 because they appear twice in the data set.
Note- There can either be 0, 1 or 2 modes. If there are 3 or more numbers occur the same number of times, there is no mode.

Find the mode in these sets of numbers
  1. 2, 1, 5, 3, 7, 8, 5, 3 ,9 the most common numbers are 5 and 3
  2. 1, 5, 3, 2, 9 ,4, 1, 6, 8, 0, the most common number is 1
  3. 23, 45, 78, 12, 45, 67, 32, 46, 93, 12, the most common numbers are 45 and 12
  4. 101, 121, 123, 145, 167, 121, 139, 145, 176, the most common numbers are 121 and 145
  5. 394, 273, 219, 294, 183, 291, 273, 288, 271, the most common number is 273

Find the Range in these number:
  1. 32,41,37,34,40: 41-32=9
  2. 100,92,96,94,98: 100-92=8
  3. 72,79,76,74,69,80: 80-69=11
  4. 54,57,52,55,58: 58-52=6
112,125,115,111,120: 125-111=14
