Have you ever heard of a famous artist Vincent Van Gogh?? While this week for reading we were learning about the life of Van Gogh and his many artwork. I learned so much from this activity such as, Van Gogh's artwork wasn't valued that much when he was alive but 100 years later, a new museum was opened in honour of Vincent Van Goug in 1993 in Amsterdam where his artwork is displayed.

Tips to survive a dangerous situation!

1. If you are in open sea

• If you have no food, remember there is food in the sea you just need to get it.
• To get freshwater make a distillation machine
• Heat stroke can kill much faster than hunger

2. If you get lost in a desert

• Try to travel at night time
• Many people think that there is water in a cacti

3. If you are trapped under a building or in a cave

• Breathe deeply but exhale very slowly
• Don’t scream
• Take of your shirt and wrap your head with it

4. Guarding against a potential attack

• Don’t accept rides from strangers
• Make as much noise as possible if you are being attacked
• Don’t be afraid to fight back
• Trust your gut

Story of my Life (Cook Island language week)

“Come on Sheena come and join the Cook Island group with us” my friend
Mereana begged. My friends were trying to convince me to join the Cook
Island group to do a dance on Friday for Cook Island language week but I was
been very stubborn because I was scared I couldn’t shake my hips the right way.

Once the lunch time bell rang me and my friends all hurried to the creative
space where the Cook Island group were practising, and somehow my friends
managed to persuade me to join the Cook Island group. The teacher that would
be helping us prepare for the dance on Friday was no other then Mrs Langitupu.
The first dance that we were going to do was the Senior Girls dance followed
with the Group dance and to close off our item we would go out and pick a
student or teacher to dance freestyle with.

On Thursday the Cook Island group had to do a run-through on the stage but
unfortunately I had to go to a netball tournament so I couldn’t make it. After
we came back from the Netball tournament my friends informed me that all
we needed to do was bring a white t-shirt and a lavalava.

Friday finally arrived and I was excited but nervous at the same time. Once I
arrived at school I rushed to the creative space forgetting all about Prefects, all
I wanted was to get to the creative space to get ready. When I got there I quickly
got changed with my friends and hurried to the hall to do a quick run-through
before the real performance. I felt really weird because all the prefects were
watching which made me very uncomfortable, but I managed to push through
and just pretend there not there and continued dancing.

Once we finished performing our item I was feeling great inside because
I got to try a new cultural and it helped me build up my confidence.

Mata I Pusi

This week for Reading Mrs Stone gave our reading group Dahl a story called Mata I Pusi (Eye's of a cat) The story was talking about that it's ok if you are different from everyone because everyone is different. As you can see on top of my presentation is my create activity where we had to create a word cloud art about what things we like.

CAKE: Since the 13th century cake has been loved by people around the
world for it’s scrumptious flavour and exquisite textures. Many special
occasions are celebrated with a cake. Whether your throwing a birthday
party, getting married or celebrating a work anniversary, the cake is a
crowd-pleasing favourite.

Cake is one of the most all-round favourite desserts with a huge variety of
delicious flavour mixtures and it’s ewuist smell that made people fall in
love through the year to this present day. Cake’s has been around since the
13th century and ever since then people around the world just couldn’t resist.
You will find loads of delicious flavor combinations in the bakeries, shops and
food stalls to satisfy everyone’s taste buds.

DONUTS: Donuts are circles of happiness and everybody knows that. It’s a
never ending sugary path of deliciousness and every bite makes you feel
more alive inside. Besides the fact that donuts aren’t good of us, they’re
good for our hunger and soul.

Donut’s are very popular in some countries and is prepared and served in
many forms as a sweet snack that can be homemade or purchased at the
supermarket, food stalls or bakeries.

So what’s keeping you from getting a donut? Purchase a donut right now and
let your inner childness run free.

This week I finished my literacy work. The book me and my group read was Fever. It was a story about a girl that got a fever and met a ghost girl. The presentation above shows all of my learning and my create task.

This week for Reading Mrs Stone gave the Dahl A Tour Like No Other. A tour like no other is a story about the Springbok tour in New Zealand in 1981 and where New Zealand become divided because some New Zealanders wanted to watch the match but some other New Zealanders did not support the tour because they thought they were supporting  racism.

In the presentation above I had to answer questions about the story and on the very last slide we had to finish our create task.

                                               Kids NEED to be allowed to watch movies.

Watching movies help students increase their learning. Many movies motivate kids to read, some of the
movies that are released every year you can bet that it’s based on a book. Lots of kids may see a movie
and like it so much that they might decide to read the book. Kids should be allowed to watch movies in
class but the question is what kind of movies should be exposed to them?

Introduction: School. It’s that noble mix of social and educational encounters that happens every five days
a week for thirteen long years. But sure there are school holidays and those days where your teacher only
goes to school and not you. But most importantly your whole entire childhood is spent at school, so here
are my top 3 reasons why we need to go to school.

1: School prepares you for life. You might not notice but school is actually helping you prepare for life
when you get older. Even though you might not know what the exact calculations of pi is, or the three
different types of rocks or even the eight parts of a speech, but school is helping you to show up on time,
work hard and apply what you’ve learned. These are definitely the skills to help you in college and the
workforce, so you're thirteen years of school is actually helping you master the skills like a true boss when
you grow up.

2: Friends. School surely wouldn’t be the same without friends. Not only they just walk around with you
down the hallways with you between classes and keep you up-to-date with school crushes, but they help
you cope with life. Good friends are always there for each other, support one another and most importantly
love each other. And for me this is one of the many reasons why I go to school.

3: It’s so much fun. I have to admit school is quite fun. Learning new things is fun, succeeding in my
classes is fun and even eating my lunch with my friends is fun. We all know that some schools have
building and equipment that might not seem awesome to us, but we’re learning from our teachers,
friends and the entire school staff, and when it’s all said and done, you’ll graduate from college or high
school with a lot of great memories of all the fun times you had in school.

Conclusion: And here you have it, my writing about why do we need to go to school.

How to Keep  yourself Healthy

Introduction: Maintaining a healthy body is not an easy thing to do.
There is always a reason to stay healthy because unhealthy bodies can be attacked by many diseases.
So in this piece of writing I will be discussing some tips which will help you have a much more
healthier life and body.

1:  The most important tip about having a healthy body is eating healthy food.
If you’re a person that wants to stay healthy start avoiding junk food.
When you are on your diet try to contain food like: leafy vegetables, milk, fruits and fruit vegetables in your
daily diet. Always make sure you have your breakfast regularly.
Skipping breakfast regularly will definitely affect your health.
When you skip breakfast the water content in your body goes low and that will lead to dehydration.
So to help keep your body healthy make sure to drink plenty of water each day.

2: Protecting your skin is also one of the many ways to help you stay healthy.
Sun Exposure is linked to skin cancer. This is the most common cancer in the US so to help you stay healthy
limit your time in the sun. When you want to go outside on a scorching hot day be sure to wear protective
clothes and a hat before you leave. Always make sure to wear sunscreen on exposed skin, like your face, arms
and legs. This can help protect your skin and prevent skin cancer.

3: Last but not least, Exercise. Exercise plays a important role in keeping your body healthy.
Regular exercise will keep your body in good shape. The exercise that you should be doing are the ones that
make your body go sweaty, not the slow simple walk. Some examples of exercise you could do for a living
is running, cycling or just walking faster than your normal speed.

Conclusion: So in conclusion there are many ways to help your body stay healthy and fit.
I hope that my piece of writing has given you some ideas of how to stay healthy.
