Have you ever heard of a famous artist Vincent Van Gogh?? While this week for reading we were learning about the life of Van Gogh and his many artwork. I learned so much from this activity such as, Van Gogh's artwork wasn't valued that much when he was alive but 100 years later, a new museum was opened in honour of Vincent Van Goug in 1993 in Amsterdam where his artwork is displayed.

Finding China

This week for reading we got to read and learn about China. In the presentation above it will show facts and other information about China that I found out about. And lastly the little google drawing above my learning presentation is my create task where I had to write some things people that are travelling to China might expect or need to know before going to China.

This week for reading Mrs Stone gave the Dahl group the articale: State housing New Zealand. The article was mostly talking about how throughout the years new state houses have been built in New Zealand and how the housing crisis have changed.

I think the story is about kids in a space that is living on a space ship with robots, adults and their principal, I think they are also looking for a new planet to live on because probably a dangerous plague spread across planet earth. I know that Nelson Mandela was the first ever South African black president and every day on his birthday (July18) which is called Mandela Day is by celebrating the idea that each individual has the power to transform and make a big impact. This week for reading Mrs Stone gave my reading group The Promise bu Bernard Beckett. It was a story about 5 kids who trapped themselves in a bunker to protect themselves from a dangerous situation that happened. Below is my create where we had to create Tips on how to survive in a disaster.

Tips to survive a dangerous situation!

1. If you are in open sea

• If you have no food, remember there is food in the sea you just need to get it.
• To get freshwater make a distillation machine
• Heat stroke can kill much faster than hunger

2. If you get lost in a desert

• Try to travel at night time
• Many people think that there is water in a cacti

3. If you are trapped under a building or in a cave

• Breathe deeply but exhale very slowly
• Don’t scream
• Take of your shirt and wrap your head with it

4. Guarding against a potential attack

• Don’t accept rides from strangers
• Make as much noise as possible if you are being attacked
• Don’t be afraid to fight back
• Trust your gut

Mata I Pusi

This week for Reading Mrs Stone gave our reading group Dahl a story called Mata I Pusi (Eye's of a cat) The story was talking about that it's ok if you are different from everyone because everyone is different. As you can see on top of my presentation is my create activity where we had to create a word cloud art about what things we like.

This week I finished my literacy work. The book me and my group read was Fever. It was a story about a girl that got a fever and met a ghost girl. The presentation above shows all of my learning and my create task.

WALT: make inferences about a textFor week 8 Mrs Stone gave me and my reading group, Dahl, Bok Choy. Bok Choy is a book that I think is about don't judge other people by their covers. In the presentation above I had to answer questions about the story and on the very last slide we had to finish our create task.

Why do we need to go to school?

We are learning to use signposts in our writing

an introduction, three body paragraphs and a conclusion.

Introduction: School. It’s that noble mix of social and educational encounters that happens every five days
a week for thirteen long years. But sure there are school holidays and those days where your teacher only
goes to school and not you. But most importantly your whole entire childhood is spent at school, so here
are my top 3 reasons why we need to go to school.

1: School prepares you for life. You might not notice but school is actually helping you prepare for life
when you get older. Even though you might not know what the exact calculations of pi is, or the three
different types of rocks or even the eight parts of a speech, but school is helping you to show up on time,
work hard and apply what you’ve learned. These are definitely the skills to help you in college and the
workforce, so you're thirteen years of school is actually helping you master the skills like a true boss when
you grow up.

2: Friends. School surely wouldn’t be the same without friends. Not only they just walk around with you
down the hallways with you between classes and keep you up-to-date with school crushes, but they help
you cope with life. Good friends are always there for each other, support one another and most importantly
love each other. And for me this is one of the many reasons why I go to school.

3: It’s so much fun. I have to admit school is quite fun. Learning new things is fun, succeeding in my
classes is fun and even eating my lunch with my friends is fun. We all know that some schools have
building and equipment that might not seem awesome to us, but we’re learning from our teachers,
friends and the entire school staff, and when it’s all said and done, you’ll graduate from college or high
school with a lot of great memories of all the fun times you had in school.

Conclusion: And here you have it, my writing about why do we need to go to school.

Escaping the Earth?

WALT: Consider the different perspectives presented in a text.Today in Literacy in Room 4 we read an article about Stephan Hawing saying we will need to leave Earth because of climate change and Disease.

Exicting launch for SpaceX (Newspaper)

Today in Room 4's Literacy for our reading task we had to  learn more about what happened to the Rocket Falcon Heavy, and lastly make a newspaper with our idea's. Here on the left is my Newspaper about the launch.

For this week activity for the Kauri group we had to read a story called Sport or way of life the story mostly talks about the benfits of running and how you can get involed in running to. Some things I learned from the story was: 1. You don't need expensive eqitment 2. It strengthens your muscles,heart and lungs. Lastly we had to finish the presentation above, Hope you like it.

For week 2 Ms Tapuke gave the Kuari reading group a activity for week 2, and this activity was all about Comprehension, and one thing that I learned abut this activity was more about Carnivorous plants.

The Rat

WALT - generate questions 
For week 1 Ms Tapuke gave the Kauri reading group The Rat. In this activity we got to learn more about the 4 sections of an Orchestra which are: The String family, Woodwind family, Brass Family, and the Percussion Family.

Learning Evidence: Kiwi Kids News

Kiwi and Samoan heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker has held on his WBO title by beating Briton Hughie Fury in their 12 round title fight in Manchester.

Two Judges had Parker winning 118-110 while the third Judge had 114 all. All of the rounds were even with Parker unable to land the knockout blow while Fury mostly spent his time on the back foot to keep out of trouble.

This win for the 25 year old Parker takes his unbeaten record to 24 wins, and it is Fury’s first lost in 21 bouts.
